The Linux Professional Institute - UK (LPI-UK), along with The Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) have recognized a national center for the cascade of Linux, the center open source technology. The plan, initiated by the SQA, is being run by Forth Valley College based in Falkirk, which will work in a straight line with LPI Certifications and training play a role in developing Linux skills through ongoing Education in Scotland, and positioning of the certification of Linux on the national qualifications of the portfolio.
Commenting on the scheme of Joe Wilson, director of New Business in the SQA said: "As part of our DIVA project, along with the LPIC Level 3, we are looking to have a minimum of 10 schools are able to offer a range of LPI certification in the next 3 years. There was huge interest in the opportunity to guide the cascade scheme and Forth Valley College have been selected based on their experience with Linux, the LPI program, its evidence in providing open source solutions, skilled personnel and skill LPI LEVEL 1 at SCQF credit and leveling and mapping in HNC / D, PDA programs. "
While for Forth Valley College, are now working with schools across Scotland to provide training and testing LPI, Joanne McGillivray, director of Applied Sciences and Computing, said: We are happy to have been chosen to lead the system and we have had understanding from colleges across the central belt and beyond. We wish that much more LPI training in June and this will escort to more students gain from curriculum and testing LPI.
