The purpose of the IBM System i Entry Level for Business Partners - Sales Mastery Test Version 1 is to measure overview sales understanding for IBM System i entry level systems at a much simpler level than that covered in the iSeries Solution Sales (including eServer i5 and i5/OS V5R3) certification exam, and to help enable IBM Business Partners to effectively sell those entry level systems in the small business environment.
This test helps validate that Business Partners have the overview knowledge to sell simple System i entry level product configurations, based on the defined education curriculum below. This test is not intended to validate knowledge and skills for complex 520 configurations.
After successful completion of the defined education curriculum and the test, Business Partners should be able to demonstrate that they can effectively and efficiently sell System i entry level systems without assistance from IBM.
This test is also intended to help:
Recognize people with knowledge to effectively sell simple IBM System i entry level systems and who can effectively identify when sales opportunities involve more complexity such as LPAR or MES upgrades beyond simple additions for more disk which should be handled by individuals with deeper sales skills and certifications.
Facilitate knowledge growth among Business Partners to enable them to increase System i sales and effectively close sales.
Facilitate customer satisfaction with System i solutions in small business environments.
Avoid or limit the negative impact of potential customer problem situations involving System i entry level systems.
Support Business Partners and IBMers as they work with their small business clients to sell the right System i solution based on customer requirements.
The IBM System i Entry Level for Business Partners - Sales Mastery Test Version 1 is based on specific System i sales education which is described below. Prior to attempting the test, all test takers are expected to have completed this education.
This mastery exam complements the System i exam portfolio for skills validation, providing an option for Business Partners and IBMers to validate their overview knowledge of System i at a simpler, or more basic level, than that covered in a certification exam.
Note that this sales mastery exam is not intended to replace the certification exam, iSeries Solution Sales (including eServer i5 and i5/OS V5R3) which measures skills in the Sales job role and covers System i sales content in more depth and with a wider breadth than that covered in the entry level sales mastery exam.
Since this is a mastery test and not a certification test, the credential achieved when the mastery test is successfully passed reflects the mastery (knowledge achieved) of the defined educational curriculum. In contrast, when a certification exam is successfully passed, that achievement reflects certification (skill in the defined job role). A certification is an industry-recognized achievement.
Individuals should carefully review whether this mastery test or the Sales certification exam applies to them. Note that successful passing of the sales mastery test is not required as a pre-requisite to attempting the Sales certification exam. However, individuals may find it useful to use the mastery test and its corresponding education as a tool prior to attempting the Sales certification exam and its corresponding education.
For validation of knowledge and skill at a deeper level and broader breadth than that covered in this mastery test, IBM recommends the iSeries Solution Sales (including eServer i5 and i5/OS V5R3) or above certification exam.
